Go Caps!

Well, I survived my first NHL game on Sunday afternoon. We packed up and went to the Verizon Center. I love going to D.C. and told Mark we will have to spend a weekend there in the spring and just explore. The kids are at such a great age to do this and it has to be a windy weekend so we can fly kites on the mall. Anywho, I rather enjoyed the hockey game. It was great to see Mark imparting his knowledge and love for the game to the boys and they got into the music, lights, and huge video screen. The hockey game was a bit boring until the third period where NJ and DC each scored a goal. NJ won with a goal at the end of OT. Booo!
Mark likes taking me now so he can watch the game and I can take photos. These shots were taken with my new Nikon D40X from the second level balcony with a 70-300 mm lens on continuous sports mode. I did crop a few in photoshop to get rid of extra ice, etc. but they turned out pretty good. I took 286 shots at the game, yikes! Mark also thinks it funny that I call the Caps star player Alexander "Over chicken" instead of Oh-vetch-kin, correct spelling Ovechkin. #8 in red.
Check out the bowed stick in this shot...

Exploraworld

Matthew and Andrew asked if they could go to Exploraworld this weekend. We hadn't been for awhile, so we packed up Saturday afternoon and drove to Columbia. Exploraworld is in a large warehouse and the space is divided up into different play sections for the kids. They have an old fire truck, an old ambulance, a jeep with a slide, a grocery store, ball pit, ice hockey, coloring station, and much more. The boys seemed to really enjoy playing school this time. Matthew really enjoys Novel day at school where they read a short novel and pick a passage to describe. He decided to teach Novel day at Exploraworld.
Andrew really enjoyed school. Mom decided to teach math for awhile, then Andrew took over. You gotta love phonics!!!
Here's mom checking out at the grocery store...
And my favorite photo of Andrew..."the stinker", er, I mean "the thinker". Priceless.

In honor of our Anniversary...

A new table!!! Yeah! After 14 years, 364 days of marriage, we finally get a new dining table in the kitchen. Mark promised that once the kids were old enough to take care of the table we would get a new one. Weekend before last I was out shopping with Matt and saw this table and chairs. I thought it would match pretty well and so I mentioned it to Mark when I got home. Based on price alone, he went to look at it last Friday and brought it home. I won't divulge the price, but it was a "blue light special" and if it lasts a year we will have gotten our money out of it. I could have looked for two years and not found one that matched the cabinets like this...
We also put up the cabinets in the laundry room this past weekend. Not a job I would want full time, but it turned out quite nice. Sorry no before picture, but it is a definite improvement.
